Without Hope

Unless God intervenes, no man has any hope of avoiding condemnation and entering the paradise called Heaven. Almighty God loves us and interrupts our ignorance, spiritual helplessness and lostness. Before we received Christ we were all without hope. Sadly, we are surrounded by individuals without hope.

Ephesians 2:11: Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; 12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

1 Thessalonians 4:13: But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

Jesus is and provides our only hope.

Colossians 1:27: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

Psalms 38:15: For in thee, O LORD, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God.

Psalms 42:5: Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.

Psalms 146:5: Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:

Romans 15:13: Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Men do not know they are lost and without hope and they do not want to know it, they do not know they need Jesus and they do not want to know it. God somehow makes men willing to know that they are lost. And then He makes them willing to receive Him. Men cannot even have faith unless Jesus authors and finishes it in them.

Hebrews 12:2a: Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;

Even those who have received Jesus need God*s help with their faith. We never stop needing it.

Mark 9:24: And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

Luke 17:5: And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.

2 Thessalonians 1:3: We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;

The more our faith grows, the more our hope grows.

1 Peter 2:1: Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, 2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

Without Jesus there is no hope whatsoever. Without the Bible faith and hope will not grow. None of us can learn everything the Bible has to teach us on our own. Without a Biblical church, our faith and hope will come and go. It will probably come and go at about the same rate as our unfaithful church attendance. For believers, a lack of hope is usually our own fault.
